What happens when you set out to cultivate media labs from recycled computers and open source software? Access Space helped 7 UK based arts organisations start to engage with Free and Open Source Software through the Grow Your Own Media Lab project. In this panel session Access Space and key partners will show what can be done with discarded PC's and some open source software.
Featured organisations: Folly (Lancaster), Mongrel / MediaShed (Southend) and Polytechnic (Newcastle).
Access Space is the UK's first free media lab: a community space equipped with locally recycled computers and free, open-source software. It provides a framework, resources and support for self-directed learning, arts and creativity. Talking part is free, and anyone can walk in and contribute.
